Dude, no need for this. I don't have a very broad knowledge of trucks, and surely don't know anything about turbos, so I thought I would join a forum and ask some guys their opinion that would know a heck of a lot more than I do. I'm just trying to weigh my options so I can make an educated choice in choosing a truck instead of going in blind. If I cant find any help here, I'll be glad to move to another forum that would be more helpful. No big deal to me

There's no "terrible things" going on with the turbo V6. Test drive both and buy what you like, and enjoy.

holy crap! This is either the biggest lie since the moon landing (jk), or the search is REALLY broken on this forum.
This is by far the most discussed subject here, and it's no exaggeration to say that there are at least 500 threads on this. you dont need to search, just go to the 09-14 section!

If I didn't need it for towing and like the turbo kicking in and pushing me back in my seat I would get the 5.0. Like somebody already said, go drive both and get the one you like, if it's used get the extended warranty if you can on either one.

I'm sorry, stick around a few months and see a few hundred threads on the same subject you might get like this too.

Check out the 2009-2014 section and learn about ecoboost and 5.0 they both have problems

In all fairness, searching 5.0 vs eco doesn't really get the best results. That being said, at 80k anything is a risk.

Truth be told, this sites search feature sucks, but Google search "5.0 vs ecoboost F150forum" and there over 5 pages of threads listed.

No experience with that engine, other than what I've read about in this forum, when I went to buy my truck I had three things in mind, air conditioning, v8 and for it to be blue, well I got the a/c and v8 but the ruby red popped so nice in the sun I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

Didn't even know anything about ecoboost turbo's at the time, just knew I wanted a v8.

Were it me after hearing all the stories I wouldn't buy an ecob brand new much less with 80k miles on it. That's just my thoughts, only you can make up your own mind.

You must ignore all the 5.0 knocking, ticking, oil consumption, short block replacement threads.

No need my 5.0 is quiet as a church mouse breathing gasoline. The mouse also does not wear tap shoes or drink oil.
I have seen my fair share of turbo engines gas and diesel come unglued and it's not a pretty sight.

For your inspection.
