Default Strange arachnid involved issue...

Hey all, long time lurker first time poster. Anyways, I'm a new proud owner of a 2008 F-150 STX, glad I went with Ford because so far so good!

My question is has anyone have had a problem with spiders being all around the exterior of a truck?

Hear me out...I know it sounds random and crazy, but when I went to the dealership to see the truck I notice quite a few webbings around the truck. After the test drive I spotted a giant spider. I'm not a huge fan of spiders but I blew it off.

I ended up purchasing the truck (obviously, that's why I'm here), and I noticed quite a few webs once again. I blew it off once again. Then I went out tonight and noticed a huge spider in my wheel well...my question is what do I need to do to get rid of these suckers? Debating if bringing it to the car wash and blasting these suckers out would work

Anywho, just figured this non-serious intro/question would be a starting point for me on these forums. Glad I went with the Ford like I said, almost went with a Chevy lol

See thats my biggest concern...I don't want them getting INSIDE the truck. I've heard of worst case scenarios of brown recluse spiders getting inside the vehicle and nesting...and the only way to get rid of the nest is to bug bomb the inside of the car, which just sounds like an enormous pain.

I live in Minnesota so hopefully the winter will just freeze the crap out of them. I'm almost certain there is a nest somewhere, I'm guessing it might be between where the box/cab meet.

If I were to take it to a wash is there certain areas I shouldn't be spraying too much water into? Obviously I'm not going to open my hood and spray in there but if I were to blast the wheel wells with a power spray I'd be fine right?

My 2000 F150 new to me HAD the same issues. I would wash the truck spray the wheel wells and even around the motor. The next day the webs were back and they were sticky like a black widow. 6 months later they were still coming back. I finally went to Home Depot and bought "Raid Max Spider Spray" and started with the areas where I found webs. In my case in the wheel wells at the cab connection and back by the spare tire. Two treatments and a week later they're gone. Good luck. I HATE SPIDERS. Oh yea I was bitten twice two years ago. I really hate spiders. lol

I haven't ID'd the spider, it does not look like a Recluse and definitely not a black widow, just want to get rid of them before them sneak into my cab lol.

I'll look into the spray. Should I be concerned about the chemicals in the spray hurting any part of the truck? I'd rather spray it and have it kind of sit and kill them because I am assuming it will not do me much if I spray the Raid and then rinse it off right away.

Go with the spray... I would s hit myself if a spider crawled into my lap or on my steering wheel. Especially here in the south we have huge garden spiders the size of your hand. Beautiful to look at but hell no on one crawlin on me. Id bail out screaming like a little girl. I have found a copperhead in the bed of my truck though. Called my buddies at an educational outdoor camp program and took her to them. Knew it was a her cause she was fat and pregnant. Was very aggressive and had gotten into the bed of my truck to nest... scary stuff. Not scared of snakes but will not mess with a spider. Funny thing is the poisonous ones are itty bitty...

Exactly. I walked out today and found both wheel wells and my tailgate webbed up. Thinking I'm going to go the spray route but I hope it doesn't hurt the paint on the truck. I read the instructions online and it mentions to avoid contact on plastic, says nothing about paint or finish

Are you parked around any trees or overhang ? It is that time of year when spiders and other insects are hatching. We have pecan trees that are covered in the catapillar nests and they just hatched and are all over the place..

There is a tree but I am not directly under it. However I think this infestation was a problem prior to my purchase. I have had the truck only as of last Thursday, and have seen the same webs and spiders so I think I am just transporting them around at this point. I may just leave it alone since in a few weeks its going to get cold and start freezing here. My only concern is them getting inside the cab somehow and making a nest in there. Don't even want to ponder how I would rid that problem lol
