You can probably get by but will need to change the fluid more often. This is assuming it's occasional and easy miles and not through the mountains or desert in 100+ degrees.
Me personally I'd add it as I've read several threads over the years about overheated trans leaking fluid onto hot exhaust and catching fire. Plus even if you aren't pushing hard enough for that your trans will last longer before needing a repair.

I would most especially if you're going to be doing hills.
Make sure you don't already have one on your truck.
A tranny cooler from B&M will cost you less than $100 and installation (if you are uncomfortable doing it yourself) is ually less than a $100.00
Spending $200 to prevcent a $2500 ruined transmission makes a lot of sense
