Default Towing Capacity

Hi there!! Can anyone tell me if my 2000 F150 XLT 4x4 longbox can safely tow our 4000lb trailer and 2 horses for a total of 7000lbs thanks mark

yeah it can tow it safley for sure as long as you have a reciver hitch and not pulling it buy the bumper

If it is something you will be doing with some regularity, you might want to do something to upgrade your brakes a little (ie: Heavy duty pads and vented rotors) and also you might want to look into a trailer brake controller. Mechanically, the truck can pull it all day long and still ask for more.

Whether it can do it safely is kind of up to you. If you set the truck up right with a nice brake controller, maybe even a weight distribution hitch or overload springs or airbags and keep the maintenance up on it, you should be fine. Im not saying the WD hitch, springs and airbags are necessarily needed, Im just saying that IF you need them and you get them, you can pull alot with your truck SAFELY. A good brake controller is a must for that load.
