Tire 33 or 35
I have a 08 screw leveled 4x4 . I have been datdreaming of 35 inch trail graps for a bout two monthe now . But , the more I read the more I hear about gears and gas milage changing . I have statred to rethink a 33 (275/70/18) instead of the 35 (295/70/18) . Is any one running 35s ?? If so how many other mods do you need to get the truck to run smooth???

The whole thing depends on the offset your going to be running. I have a 6" lift, and 35's, with a -12mm offset. Even though I have a 6" lift, my 35's still rub when I go up a steep incline with my tires turned a certain direction. To make my truck run "smoother," I have a programmer. Probably the best thing you can buy to help your truck out. Although, I wouldn't worry about gears until you go above 35's (37's+). If you have the money then regearing would be nice, but if you don't then don't get them. However, if my truck was only leveled then I would just stick with 33's. Remember, offset.

I have 35's with the stock 3.55's. 4.10's would be great, but I have not done it yet. The stock gearing isn't bad. A little sluggish, and I wouldn't do any serious 4-wheeling or heavy towing, but it's ok for normal driving.

My dad just bought a brand new 2012 screw 4x4 with the 3.55's and electric locker, and had the dealership do a 2" level with 35" (295/70/18) trail grapplers and he loves them, they do not rub at all and they are quite and can get you out of a bind. He averages 12-13 around town and 13-15 on the highway. On the other hand, I have a 2005 reg cab 4x4 with a 2" level, and aftermarket rear blocks and 33" (285-70-17) sigma/cordovan mud claws, and I average the same fuel mileage as him, but I have factory 3.73's, so I think the tire size is personal preference, good luck and I think you will be happy either way, I'm about to put 35x12.50x17 mud grapplers when I finally decide to spend the money to change my rims!!!
