Thanks guys! I definitely like the looks of the 5100's better than the 4600's. I can actually get the 5100 rears a few cents cheaper than the 4600 rears on Amazon. I know the fronts will end up costing more, but not really enough more to sway me in one direction.

I read on a shock dealer's website (I forget which one) that the internals are the same. But I spoke to the regional Bilstein rep who said they are different. Either way, people seem to be happy with both. I'll be ordering the 5100 rears soon.

There are pictures of OEM shocks with part numbers off their trucks that rode terribly

OK now that I have a 16 I can see why this thread is here. Wow what a horrible set of shocks.
'
'So whats the consensus on replacements? Low cost ones that is. Bilstiens?

5100's or Fox seems popular now. I have had Bilstiens for 27 years. If you can only get them one at a time put the one on driver side. Problem immediately goes away.

Ticks me off to find out after the fact that the Bilstein rears would have fit the 16. I was just too sore to remove them off both trucks.

20,000 miles now, it was best decision for the truck. Bilsteins are breaking in nicely.

4600's are on order for me. 5100's are overkill for a lightweight F150 in my opinion. I ran them on my SD's though

I used to use them. They do the job an look nice mounted. I also mounted2 swing out rear tool boxes that also remove easily for hauling drywall etc.
