Some concerns
I have a 2010 f150 w/35000. I had a discussion with a ford tech about oil and fuel additives. He recommends delo 15-40 instead of the recommended 5-20. Personally I like the idea but will this cause problems? Warranty? Also he recommended adding small amounts of rescue 911 to the fuel? Not so sure about this. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

Personally I'd stick to what the manual says so there's no bull****ing when you have to get something done under warranty. Yeah, everyone says they have to prove that whatever you did caused the problem in order to reject the warranty claim, bur seriously why hassle over something like this. I imagine the Ford engineers are pretty smart and chose 5w-20 for good reason

It's entirely up to you.......
Trust the engineers who designed the vehicle and spec'd the fluids accordingly, or go with a Ford tech who may or may not be as informed as the engineers who built the thing.
If you choose the latter, be prepared to deal with issues with warranty claims.

Ford spends billions on R&D, with a LOT of that going towards avoiding costly warranty work (in both terms of financial implication as well as negative publicity). This "Ford tech", if he is anything like 80% of the ones I know, doesn't know Jack Shiite about what he is talking about.
(I can hear him now though: "But I went to TWO WHOLE WEEKS of skool! Look at my shirt! It says "Ford Service" on it. See!")
15W-40 oil in these close-tolerance engines would be a BAD idea.

The same as said above when it comes to the oil. Now, as for your second issue, a little fuel additive is not going to hurt anything with you putting that many miles on your engine and with the ethanol issues that are turning up constantly a good injector cleaner is going to be a big help (in my opinion) .

That mechanic is an idiot. I've seen heavy oils destroy Ford engines. The clearances in the engine are designed for a thin oil. I think the engineers know more about the engine then the mechanic.

Dude, Delo 15W40 is for diesels... "rescue 911" is an emergency additive for gelled diesel fuel... I keep a bottle in my F350 during winter.
This is a joke, right?
