Default Tailgate cable stop (keeps tailgate from falling) problem

I have an 09 F150 and there is a cable on either side of the tailgate that limits the travel of the tailgate when you open it. Pretty much standard for all pickups.

My tailgate has the step in it and a bulge where the support rod folds down. When you open the gate, the cables stop the tailgate before the tailgate is level w/ the bed due to this bulge.

I want to put in a cargo bedslide and I need to drop the tailgate about 1 inch further so the slide will clear the tailgate.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a cable that's another inch or so longer?

Thanks.

Try looking at cables at Mills Fleet Farm, etc... Seem to be a universal fit.

Or try contacting the stealership about this issue. They may have a solution for you.

Good luck!
