Yea I only take mine out to add new music, its great. alternatively search on here for the USB2 mod, you could do that and stick it somewhere like your glove box like some have done and then you dont have it sticking out of the dash, its hidden. I may do this mod myself someday if i get bored.

Mine did the same thing with the song counter moving but no sound. Seems strange but click your iPod app in the phone and switch it from sync to dock connector should restore sound.
