Default Tonneau cover in cold weather

What's the trick to getting a tonneau cover to snap on when its cold out?

Ive got an Extang Black Max tonneau cover on my truck and I took it off yesterday to haul my atv and now I cant get it to stretch enough to snap on all the way around.

The snaps are flipped to the winter position. I didnt even try to put the support bars on it. Usually I get the front and back snapped on and then do the sides.

Ive only had the cover a few weeks and only had it off twice. When I installed it the first time and last time it was 35+* out. Yesterday when I tried it was about 20*. I didnt try it today because it was even colder out.

When the material gets cold it shrinks. If you allow it to warm up a bit it will streach back out. The best way to do that is to bring the cover inside for the night and allow it to warm up.

I guess my garage wasnt warm enough. I put it in the basement last night. Theres really not much room to lay it out in the house.

I couldnt stretch the cover enough to snap it at the tailgate. Not really an issue with the snaps since the cover didnt reach them.
The last time I put it on it was warmer out and it went on ok.

I really didnt want a snap cover but it was only $80 on Craigslist and was like it was never used.

You can roll it up and leave it in the house. It doesn't need to lay flat to get warm.

The trick to the tonneau cover in the cold is to NOT unsnap it heh. I do everything in my power to keep that thing as is. Other than that... a hairdrier works pretty decently if you can get your truck in a garage to keep the temperature up a bit.

It doesn't help that it is newer and is prone to stretching and shrinking. Eventually, it will hold its shape.

Ha Same. I just don't take it off when it's bitter cold out. If a friend borrows the truck to move something, I warn em it's gonna be a biotch to get it back on. One guy said he could handle it no prob and then spent 2 hours snapping the cover back on. Ha. I told him it had to be put back on.

mine must be older. I bought it on craigslist for $35 and it think the brand is techstyle. But I have never had a problem snapping them back on in the cold. For odd reason I had a harder time snapping it up when it was warm out. I think when it is cold mine retains its shape much better.
