Super cab vs super crew cab
#51
If they offered the SuperCab with a 5.5 box, I would be all over it. That would be a nice wheelbase (prob about 133" or so??)
Since I can't reduce the wheelbase from 145" by getting less cab space, I would prefer to have the extra cab space inside than in the bed.
Also, I'm still shopping for my F150, but checked insurance rates, and, because of those crash test ratings, the F150 is the least expensive to insure... over $100 a month less than a RAM for my specific circumstances and coverage. That's a lot of extra options I can afford!

Yep... young driver on my policy, a recent accident (my fault) and (right now) 4 vehicles covered. I also carry ZERO deductible comprehensive due to the perpetual construction (windshield damage) in the DC area and a low collision deductible ($250).

I've always had supercabs because I need the 6.5 ft bed. Yes, I could get a supercrew with a 6.5ft bed, but not too sure about the 2-piece driveshafts the extra length would mean I couldn't stick it in my garage.
My 2015 XLT Supercab isn't just my favorite F150 of all time (3 previous generations), but my favorite vehicle period.
It drives well, comfortable, the 2.7L Ecoboost blows the doors off my last 5.4L, in fact it's faster than my last BMW sedan and gets almost the same gas mileage on my daily commute.
The 6.5 ft bed allows me to have a truck tool box and a bed mounted Kayak rack which was critical for my new truck.

My previous truck was a Scab, the three previous were regular cabs. Current truck is a Screw. It's what I always wanted, can't beat the interior storage for keeping luggage dry, along with a large tool box. I crossed the Mississippi five times with the previous truck, three with this one. I prefer to drive these days rather than fly. My dog does not fly and it's easier to bring along the American Express.

I needed to balance out all my needs, since this truck is my daily driver and sometimes need to transport 4 or more people, a single cab was out of the question.
I'm part of a RC boating group, we run some pretty fast 100+ mph electric boats, and they have a tendency to flip and crash. We need the Kayak to recover them. So the 6.5 bed allows me the room for the Kayak, a carrier basket, toolbox and everything below to hold all my equipment.
I can remove that whole rack system in about 5 minutes if I need to move something large.

Nah, the rack system gives me 2 levels of storage. On most weekends, the bottom of the bed is filled, so is the tool box, then the Kayak and also the basket. Plus 5-6 people in the cab and sometimes a bass boat on the trailer.
We got a 2004 Expedition EB, even with the 3rd row down, we can't carry enough cargo and passengers than a Supercab can do.
Plus its a pain to off-load a kayak loaded on the top of a fullsize SUV. The bed rail racks is super easy to load and unload a kayak.
I also love working off my tailgate, usually a 40" RC boat soaking wet in salt water. Something I don't want to do on the liftgate end of a carpeted floor of a SUV

It really depends on how you use your truck. Do you need more in cab room for people or storage or do you need more bed space for storage?
