Stop Making Fun Of Buyers Of $50,000+ F-150s

The reality here is the majority of sales are not the premium editions,
...... and that means that they are the minority bud.
XLT's outsell Platinums probably 10 to 1.
It's not because Platinums aren't nice, it's simply because the market won't sustain a majority stake in $20,000+ in options.

In the first half of this year, Ford said 60% of F-series sales were so-called high-series trims: Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. As a result, the truck’s average transaction price has jumped 9% to $44,100 from a year ago.
As Ford Truck spokesperson Mike Levine tells CNET, "We've not yet found the ceiling in the luxury-truck market." Indeed, as John Krafcik, president of TrueCar recently noted on Twitter, Ford's F-Series is "crushing it with [an] all-time record pickup truck ATP of $46,573." By the automotive pricing and data company's own estimates, that average transaction price points to a whopping increase of 8.1 percent year over year.
Data collected by The Wall Street Journal indicate that the average transaction prices in 2015 for the Ford F-150, GMC Sierra 1500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are all above $40,000, and 22% of pickup trucks are selling for more than $50,000. That’s up from just 9% of pickups being purchased for $50,000 or more in 2010.

I agree, that is just way to much money for an f150. I wonder myself seeing guys driving around in the newer full loaded f150s what they do for a living. Come to find out I have talked to a lot of them and they have your avg 60k year salary but choose to have a really HIGH payment. I personally would take a f250/350 diesel less loaded all day for just a tad bit more money. but to each is own.

Or morons who are up to their eyeballs in debt.
Honestly, it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That kind of money for a pick up??? F that!!! I bought my F-150 from a friend. He has been an ASE certified mechanic working at the same Ford dealer for 28 years. He bought my F-150 brand new and took excellent care of it. He only decided to sell because he had a chance to get a 2014 Raptor. I paid $8k for my truck and it only has 82,000 miles.
Imagine paying $60k for a pick up. Now deduct say $15k for a trade in value or down payment. You are still financing $45k over say 6 years. Christ at 0% interest that's $625.00 a month!!! For a pick up??? Again....F that!
I bought my vacation home in 1997. I paid $52k and put $5k down. My mortgage is $350 a month and now my home is worth $185k. Keep pissing money away on big $ vehicles trying to impress the next guy. Just dumb

0.9% is for suckers!
I seriously just can't figure out what these folks do for a living, in order to afford these vehicles. Even when I was working as a corporate associate for an AMLAW 100 law firm, there's no way in heck I could afford these trucks. I'm guessing alot are successful entrepreneurs with accumulated $ or guys with at least $200k+ incomes...
Not too many 23 year old kids with PT jobs driving $50-100k cars, if you are 35-50 ish then you have work history, credit, cash, savings. Etc and can pay outright or finance at ridiculous low rates (I make more % on my money than what it costs to borrow) and I don't drive em for 100,000 miles.
And I always buy right. $15k off of $60k trucks is common here in this area, so when someone tells me "I paid $60k" for their truck, I know they are full of it, or paid way too much, or rolled in TTL, plus negative equity in their trade. Regardless of MSRP.

FWIW, just read this morning that the average weekly income in our neck of the woods is $ 1,152... a week... and that's an average, including the poor students working at McDonalds... Steve the welder / truck driver in Fort Mc probably makes 2-3 times that...
Add in all the corporate folks, successful entrepreneurs, daddy's kids, etc... and it's no surprise that high end trucks are doing well!!

I buy expensive trucks because I can afford it. I pay CASH when I buy 'em and I don't owe the world a dime. Perhaps YOU need to learn to work SMARTER? Unless you are happy never having anything?
Here in Vegas I know working class people that could afford a Jaguar if they just kept away from the casinos, booze and smoking. But that is what they enjoy, and they have every right to spend their money any legal way they want.
Just as I do.

What's funny to me about this entire thread, is how many people are still "stuck" in the mentality that somehow a pickup truck is different from just about any other car/vehicle on the road - in such a way that pickups are supposed to be less expensive, and only used for hardcore, abusive work.
Wake up people ... in this day and age, pickups have morphed into luxury, work-capable vehicles on the higher end, with offerings at the lower end for "hardcore work only" trucks.
Now, are the "options" over-priced? maybe ... but that's not really the point I'm making here. Some of us want more than a sheet-metal box w/ a powertrain and a bed. I don't drive my truck only on special occassions, or only to go play in the mud or to hunt. I drive my truck EVERY DAY. I use it for EVERYTHING ... from going out on a very nice date w/ my wife, to hauling materials to a jobsite on a project I'm building ... and everything inbetween.
It's amazing to me how versatile these trucks are, and how much use I get out of mine. Nice enough to get into a tuxedo and go to ball, yet utilitarian enough for me to plow through muddy fields at the hunting camp and/or haul construction materials etc. a hundred miles to a jobsite.
I guess all I'm saying is, get over this "trucks are only for work and shouldn't cost jack squat" mentality ... if you only want one with enough stuff in it to make it run, good for you. If you want one with all the bells and whistles, luxurious enough to compete with a high-end Mercedes, Lexus or BMW, they make those too. Pick the one YOU want, and stop acting like everyone else is an idiot for spending more money than you did ...
