Question Shock recommendations

I drive a 2005 King Ranch 4x4 that has 140, 000 mils with original shocks that are in need of replacement, I drive mainly on the hwy but do a good bit of towing and light off road travel.
Whats some good options and price ranges, also considering replaceing rest of suspension, coils and leafs if theres any good inexpensive options but not looking for alot of lift.

thanks for the help.

Still new to suspension mods, but it seems like a lot of the guys on here go with Billstein 5100s, they aren't terribly expensive, I think there's even a deal with TAP Auto in the classifieds:

Personally, Bilsteins have long been my choice in Pick-up Shocks. I've tried others, Rancho's and HD Monroe's. I just like the Bilstein ride more. They do cost a little more than others but at 140,000 miles if you haven't had any or much front suspension (components) replaced you may be opening up your Wallet a little further than just shocks.

Get Bilstein if you want a smoother ride. Rancho's are somewhat stiff.

guess I will go with Bilstein but that brings up another question, my truck has a level kit installed which I am figuring needs to be removed. .. is this correct?

That's a good question, not sure on your model, but with the 97-98's w/long Tbars cranked up couldn't run Bilstiens as they would eat the lower bushings.

The factory shocks as junkie as they were could handle a full Tbar crank, - BUT not with Bilstien substitutes. Anyone have bushing problems w/Bilstien ? Yea, that's Y, they are 1-1.5" to short for some model years. The front end won't remain aligned for too long running short shocks lol.

Edlebrocks would be choice IMO. At least you get what you pay for.

Default bilstein 51002

the 5100s incorporate 4 position lift settings into the shock body. anywhere from 3/4" to 2 1/2 inch adjustable. you would have to remove the original lift.

Actually, you can get the bilstein hd's (4600 series) and use your leveling kit or get the 5100 bilsteins and set them at 0" to use your existing level or set the bilstein's at .75", 1.5", or 2.5" and ditch your existing level (preferred method). The springs should be ok unless you tow heavy often or leave a bunch of weight in the truck all the time. Balljoints, bearings, tierods, and bushings should be inspected though.
