Default Steering going stiff!

I have just over 70k on my 2007 f150. It is 4x4 and has the 4.6L motor. I was on my way home and out of the blue as I was turning into the street where I live, the steering went completely stiff. Like there was no power steering. What could this be? I checked the power steering fluid and it's full. Help me out please. I'm a teacher not a mechanic. I'm sort of panicked because I just bought it 2 weeks ago.

Mine does the same thing. Sometimes I put white lithium grease on all the steering parts. But it hardly works.

Thanks! I'm willing to try it! I found some threads on a different forum that said the same thing.

why not just get a grease gun and pump some grease through the zerks fitting in the idler, pitman, and tierods? why lithium grease? check to see if you have any powersteering leaks.

Because it doesn't have idlers or a pitman, and there are no zerks in the factory tie rod ends.

The power steering pump could have gone out, could be a problem with the rack, or it could be something as simple as the u-joints in the steering shaft have gone stiff.

TO eliminate the latter, spray some WD-40 into the u-joints in the steering shaft, if that frees things up, you've found the issue.

Thanks guys! I tried power blaster and it did the trick! Just glad it wasn't the rack or pump!
