Started Polishing A OEM Set Of Raptor Exhaust Tips
All I can say is holy crap, it's a lot more work than I thought. I started with 220 grit and it just wasn't cutting it. Ended up using a 80 grit flapper wheels to cut it down then moved to 220 grit, then 400, then 800, then 1000, then 2000 then polish. I'm not finished yet but there almost done. Whatcha thing?

Looks awesome. Not sure if you can put some type of top coat over them with them being exhaust pipes. I polished a set of rear shocks currently on my truck and they rusted like crazy. Hopefully someone will chime in.

I don't think people fully understand how much work goes into a good polish job. Lol. Surprised you had to start out with 80 grit though. Didn't think the tips looked that bad.

As for how long it will last I'm sure as long as you keep a polish on it, it should stay like this. I have a Gibson polished exhaust tip on my truck and its two years old and still looks new. I wash it every time I wash the truck and polish it a few times a year. The muffler on my truck is a polished Banks muffler and I have only washed it a few times and it's still looking new also.
I have about 8-10hrs into it so far but truth be told half of it was due to me know truely understand what it takes to do it. I think I could get to this point in half the time if I ever did it again but that won't happen I can promise you that!!
Once I finish this I'm going to polish my 30oz Yeti cup!

Congrats. I tried that on an the back of old Ipod once and gave up 60% of the way. That's a LOT of elbow grease. I can see why you switched to a machine. Good work!
