Default Some guys don't DESERVE A truck

Bought my new/used 2011 race red FX4 over the weekend. I live in AZ and bought it from a guy in Texas. I asked alot of questions and inspected photos closely. We agree on a price and I rent a car to drive over 1000 miles to go pick it up.

This is a VERY long story that I will make as short.

This guy was the original owner and when he pulled up with the truck at my hotel it was trashed. Dirt/mud...tires were shot (they were POS Federal MT's), cracked windshield, driver mirror was gone (just the glass), cover on pass seat by seat belt cracked, mold under pass mat, engine compartment looked like the sahara desert, AND check engine light is on.

I flipped out...but I knew there was still a good truck under there. I got the truck another $1500 cheaper, got the 6 yr 100k warranty transferred, truck had permaplate appearance warranty with glass I managed to get that transferred into my name and got windshield replaced. I also got the Safeguard tire and wheel warranty transferred into my name. Fixed everything and put a detail on it.

I just can't believe someone would buy a truck off the showroom floor that stickered at close to $45K then purchase another $5K in warranties then treat it like that.

I bought some Falken Rocky Mountain 305/55/20 to drive home on and decided half way I didn't like them. When I got home I switched them for GoodYear Duratec 305/55/20. Discount Tire was awesome to let me just pay the difference...I mean I just put 1200 miles on the Falkens and they still took them back.

Here's a pic with the falkens 305/55.20

Here's a pic with the Goodyear Duratec's 305/55/20. Also his tires where rubbing on a hard turn...which as bald as they where means it must have been rubbing worse when they were new. I trimmed them for the Falkens. I just put the Duratec's on today and notice a slight rub so even though they are the same size the Duratec tire must be a little bit bigger

Well said!! I just sold my 2006 F-150 and I had it detailed before I sold it...just the right thing to do! If he wanted to ignore the truck...he should have bought a Chevy.

When you begin saying who deserved what based on your opinion you are opening a whole can of worms.

It's people money (or in some cases the banks), so the can do whatever they really want.

He could have not cared about the vehicle because:
-he never treats any of his vehicles well
-he is well off and doesn't care because he can get another one in a year and it isn't worth his time to clean it/ take care of it

You make a point but I think its common sense/courtesy to make a vehicle look presentable prior to showing it to a potential buyer. Sadly a lot of people lack both of those traits.

Op didn't you see current pics of the truck prior to committing yourself to a 1k mile drive in a rental car? There's a ton of FX4 F-150's for sale in every state year round.

Good job on bringing it back to life and getting a lower price.

Some people are clueless...my wife's niece had a Saturn, ran it for 70,000+ miles when the engine blew. Image the nerve of the dealership not covering a new engine when it had never had an oil change. I probably don't have to tell you what the rest of the car looked like....

I would like to have seen some pics of the truck in the BEFORE state . . . . .

The original owner really got screwed if he paid $5K in warranties. Was this a FORD esp?

Dang, that's quite a story. Hopefully that truck serves you well for as long as you own it.

Bottom line is that some people just don't appreciate their belongings. Whatever... they don't deserve to have nice stuff, no matter how much money they have.
