Default soft & low brake pedal

I have a 2007 F150 4X2. The brake pedal has always been soft and have had the master cylinder replaced under warranty, but the pedal is still soft and mushy. The service manager at the Ford dealership said that is a common thing with all the new model F150s. The pedal is also very low. Just wondering if there is any way to correct these problems.

Have you had them bled/ checked for air in the brake lines, and are they 4 way disc or do you have drum brakes in the rear if so the rear drums can be adjusted.

I agree with Gafford- grab a buddy, a bottle of fluid, and bleed them. Its pretty easy to do and should take 10-20 minutes tops.

If you have a micrometer, measure the thickness of the rotors. Have they been reduced to "nothing"? How do the pads look? Anything left on those? OEM pads and rotors generally suck!

Keep in mind that 4 wheel disc feel totally different than disk/drum..toss anti lock into the equation and the pedal is a bit spongier that the older trucks. And as stated above disc brake rotors are critical to having a good pedal. If its the same as before the dealer put on the master you would THINK it couldn't be air in the line because you would ASSUME the dealer bleed the system....but you know what they say about the word assume dont you?

Default soft pedal

The rotors and pads are orginal. It has 63000 kms on the vehicle. Yes, the dealer bled the system when they replaced the master cylinder.

I'm trying to find out the same thing. My wife's truck had been doing this, now her pedal goes all the way to the floor sometimes. It's out of warranty so I need to figure out what's up with it. (46k miles)

My 2009 is terrible, but my dad's 2010 will throw you into the dash when I occasionally drive it and hit the brakes. Guess they got it fixed. Drove a 2011 that was tight also. I would love to have it fixed. Makes me a little uncomfortable pulling a load.

My '06 is the same way. I took it back to the dealer and had them bleed the lines but it's still soft. Seems worse on hotter days, but the brakes do seem to work well just feel too soft for my liking.
