hi all, well, i just purchased my first truck (and i decided to go FORD). it's a 2011 f150 xlt - XTR 4x4. after alot of research i hope i made a good decision.

since this is my first truck, im open to any/all suggestions (how to get the best gas mileage, how to keep care....etc

Best advice I can give you, post some damn pictures already!!!

No really, just take care of it. Stay away from low end mods like cheap levels or lifts, CAI's are good for sound but not necessarily for power, and get a good tonneau (hard or soft.)

As for MPG, pull away slower from traffic lights, don't go over 2,000 RPM on highway, don't race from light to light, and if you have select shift, use it on the highway. At speeds above 60 6th gear has more than enough torque to get you accelerating, so select 6th that way it won't downshift every time you accelerate 5-15 MPH.

Whenever you replace or upgrade a part, don't just stick the old one in the back of the garage, list it in the classifieds. Many people are looking for used OEM parts and the forum classifieds are a fantastic place to get them/sell them.

Compelled to answer, having the same name(!). First truck. What exactly did you research? Most manufacturers today offer vehicular products virtually a "damsite" better than those of any builder, in years back. Ford truck popularity is often called "stereotype", like "Mexicans kill one-another". However, as my wife always points out, stereotypes do not develop from baseless belief. Thus, Ford truck popularity MUST be based on acceptance by owner, do you not think?

Regarding your questions seeking advice, mine would be to READ the owner's manual through and through. Learn where to find, within it's contents, answers to questions which develop.
