First off, Great Forum !
I've been able to answer many of my question's through searching this site without the need to keep making recurring subject thread's that have been discussed often, though if I do sorry.

I most likely plan on buying my next F-150 out of state/ back home & used. Reason being everything where I'm at now is overpriced because of the area, which I could save roughly $5-$10K on something very similar back home or better options just a year or two older with still reasonable low miles, plus without being beat up by the rough roads out here.

So to minimize being lied to on the internet - which sometimes the truck is marked this engine & etc... while later in the same ad it says something else....WTF ? get the facts straight which is it ?
& wasting anyones time, namely the person I'll trust to check the truck out & everything is legit & condition, then my time to leave state to buy it if everything is still legit when I get there to finally see it first hand.

I've seen some VIN decoder sites people post, yet the one's I've seen are very vague just general knowledge.
I want something I can have them send me a picture of the door jam decal & run VIN number that will tell me,
is this a XLT, Lariat, Platinum etc...(which some sites mark like its normal XLT while its a Lariat, then some claim Lariat while it kind of looks XLT, see what I'm saying)
is it a 3.5L GTDI V6 or not ?
Axle ratio ?
other package deals it had when left the factory, etc...

I want no BS, show me the numbers so I can decipher what that truck was when it left the factory.


Next question,
When is the best time to buy ? any salesman here ?
I get it at the end of something to meet their goals or make room for new models, be it
- end of week though also heard Monday ?
- end of month
- around Oct. time since I think next year F-150's come out then ?

- end of season that's opposite of what you're looking for , for example
- looking for a car, look towards buying late fall into winter
- looking for truck/SUV/AWD, look towards buying late spring/summer/early fall

Of course I want 4x4 truck, should I hold off until next year models come out but by then its close to winter & they might not budge/deal on trucks then vs say late summer or ?
Yet at the same time once the new models come out, the older models should drop in price & they're willing to deal.
it's almost a catch 22.


last but not least, how much can I try to low ball at a dealership to get a better price ?

all my previous vehicle transactions were private or salvage & I've had enough of that burn !
