Default New Truck 2017 rust on axle advise.

Help Needed!!!

Just purchased my first Ford F-150 and love the truck. I noticed tonight the rear axle has significant rust on it. Is this normal? The truck is a 17 Platinum and I have only had it for about 10 days with less than 500 miles on it. Any suggestions or anyone else has a similar experience? For 60K and a new truck there shouldn't be that much rust. Thanks for your feed back!!

It's just surface rust and is completely normal.

Posted often by new buyers. Yes, normal and not an issue.

Lame, but sadly normal for Ford anyway.

That stuff is good, but can only be applied to rusted metal, doesn't stick to bare metal. You also have to paint over it to protect it from UV. The Duplicolor stuff is actually more user friendly and does the same thing, but can go over bare metal and paint as well as the rust. It brushes on and levels out nicely. Very user friendly. Check out Powerblock(or whatever they call it now) for the episode where they shorten a 2500 chassis. they covered it with the Duplicolor rust barrier.

I just noticed all over my Limited that I have had 6 days. Unbelievable that Ford would put out something like this. My first truck as well.

Finally heard back from the dealer yesterday and the service manager said it was very common and from the salt on the roads up north. I went and looked at several new trucks this weekend and a couple did have rust but not as extensive as mine, the majority had no rust at all.I even looked at about 20 Ford F-150's at the park we play ball and not a one of them had rusted axles. Keep in mind some of these trucks were 5 years old. I love the truck but very disappointed with Ford. The dealer suggested I drop of the truck and said they would clean it and coat it with a rust prevention. I am in sales and I could never image selling my customers something that cost 40-60K new and it not look new in every aspect. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.
