I took it apart later on this evening and dumped buckets of water all over the roof and tried to see if i could feel water coming in, but no luck?

Water has a funny way of traveling from wherever and its hard to find, has anyone else experienced a leak from the same location? I thought maybe it was the Sirius Antenna, maybe it has to be colder out before it leaks again, so the rubber shrinks up abit or something?
I noticed this for the first time yesterday on my 2009 Screw. Water just drips, but the floor mat was just slightly wet. No Sirus antenna on my truck. 4" of rain during the night and first part of the day.

For the record my truck had the rear light seal replaced and the windshield resealed last year.

Ok, after a breif look around my truck I again noticed the back seat was damp. Looks like the third brake light fix un-fixed itself and started leaking again. There is also moisture inside of the light housing.

Angry 2010 F150 Roof Leak

I had the same isuue with my 2010 F150. The told me that the sealant they used at the facdtory was not working well over time. They also found in my case that it was leaking around the satalight antena.

They replaced the third tail light, resealed it and the sat antena. Cleaned head liner, but today I'm starting to notice a mold smell. I'm more than a little irratated. It looks like I'll be headed back in.

One thing to note, is that after the base warranty expires, roof leaks are not covered. I was told that the extended warrenty was "bumper to bumper" and covers everything, but they tell me not roof leaks.

They were not at all surprized when I took it in. I guess they have seem it severtimes before. I'm not sure why this had not been a recall. It requires a whole new third tiallight part.

My last truck was a 2010 XLT SCREW and it leaked through the windshield in the top corner on the passenger side. Took it back to the dealer and it was fixed in an hour under warranty.

Hi all,

My daughter just told me my seat had water all over it. This is some good info here and I will take the truck in to FORD.

Thanks
Jamie

It seems like this problem is happening with trucks from 2004-2010. My friend's 2010 FX4 SC had the same problem (leaked from the third brake light). Does anyone know of any 2011's or 2012's with this problem?

Sirius antenna was a leak for my 2010. I didn't experience it but saw it on the dealer repair history, thru a friend of mine, that it had been fixed shortly after the truck was bought by the original owner. Seemed like it was sealed and fixed quickly.

Using silicon or similar sealant will work but will be a pain when you have to remove light to change bulbs. I picked up some sealing tape (3/8" wide by 1/4" thick with adhesive on one side only) at the hardware store. Stuck this on to the light where the old gasket should have been. Seals good and will remove easily.

I'm thankful to the OP of this thread. I bought a 2010 XLT crew a month ago, and during the first week, my daughter climbed in the back and claimed her seat was wet. Wet was an understatement... it was soaked.

I found this forum, and ended up pulling the 3rd brake light off to check... the seal seemed ok, so I replaced it. This year has been incredibly wet, and since then, (and somewhat mysteriously) only minor leakage has occurred. I came back to search the problem again and realized that by removing and replacing the 3rd brake light, I probably strengthened the seal (It has certainly rained harder than it did that first night). I am going to buy a new seal tomorrow, but I suspect after re-reading this thread that I know exactly where the problem is.

Great forum, thanks.

Make sure you clean the old gasket material from the light housing and body of the truck completely. I had the same issue with my Dodge that I traded on this F150. I also used some one sided adhesive door sealant from Lowes and never had a problem after that. I had to apply it twice as I didn't get it clean enough and whatever little pieces that I missed were causing enough of an opening to let just a trickle in. I spent about an hour cleaning the adhesive off the housing. When I reinstalled it I put the adhesive side of the tape on the truck as it was much easier to clean and you don't have to worry about melting the plastic with any solvents you use. The dealer told me to use silicone around the light as that is what they do or I would have to purchase a new housing as they didn't sell just the double sided adhesive gasket. I couldn't see using the silicone as others have said because of the issues removing it when the bulb needed replaced.

I just put in a new third brake light with a heavier foam gasket about a month ago and today I found out a stain on the headlinger in rear passenger side. I am guessing the leakage isnt coming from the third brake light. I guess I gotta go haggle with the dealership again about this crap.
