Just call your local sheriff, police, or highway patrol office and ask.

Please report the answer.

What is the difference in drinking at a bar/restaurant or drinking a beer while driving if you are under the legal limit? I know it would be harder to spot people drinking and driving, which is why its not legal I'm sure.
Glad I don't live near you...

I'm in total agreement EXCEPT that taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook for medical care if you do things like this. Anyone has the right to be stupid, but we as taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for it.

Default Subaru Brat

Anyone remember the Subaru Brat?

Two seats from the factory in the bed - don't think you could get away with this nowadays.

Can you explain the difference to me between drinking 1 beer in your car while driving compared to drinking 1 beer at your house or bar then driving? Neither will put you over the legal limit. I understand why it is against the law but there is no difference between the two scenarios.

If the seats are bolted to the truck and they have seat belts it is perfectly legal even on the interstate.

Alcohol impairs your judgement. Drinking one beer while driving may make you more willing to have a second or third. In VA passengers aren't even allowed to drink and no open container of liquor can be within access of any of the passengers. I have to put open bottles in my toolbox to drive legally.

You're right. There is no difference between bringing a drink into your car, drinking it while you drive, having the alcohol hit your bloodstream while you're driving, versus sitting in your house/bar and having a beer then deciding to drive. Not a thing. Same as reading. You can read in your house, or read while driving. No difference.

I reiterate that I'm glad I don't live near you.

I suggest you gulp down a beer outside your local PD. Wait 10 minutes, then go in and tell them you were driving and you'd like a test.
