FORD PARTS FANATIC
iTrader: (1)
Base part number will always be the same, usually. Now, here's a new development. As the owner of a 2013 F150, who really wants this feature, and currently has NO backup camera, I did a bit of research, and here's what I found. Somebody a bit more brave than I can be the one to test this out first...also, money is a factor right now.
Go to your local Ford dealer....visit the parts department. Ask them to contact whoever they use for radio repair. Explain what you are trying to do to your truck. They will probably call on your behalf, or give you the contact info.
That company may or may not offer a kit where they would send you out a NEW screen module, pre programmed for the new screen feature, allowing the video feed input to work.
They may also offer camera options if your truck is not equipped.
This kit may or may not include wire harnesses, instructions, etc.
You would potentially need to return your old screen module as a core, at which time you would receive a core charge credit back to you.
They may or may not allow this to be sold over the counter, so there might be ford tech shop labor charges involved....
This would most likely cost a few dollars....
Just a thought, your mileage may vary....

I got a new 2014 F-150 XLT with XTR package and 301A that includes de 4.2in screen... I'm looking into getting a backup camera installed and would like to have it displaying on the 4.2inch screen... as per this thread I understand that is possible and will require to reprogram the unit... Can someone confirm if all I would need is the backup camera kit like this one( http://tailgatecamera.com/collection...ailgate-emblem ).
Will I get the parking lines with it?

We offer a full system that is very affordable and comes with everything you need to install. The kit is as close as you will get to factory and comes with a 600 TV line high resolution camera, factory parking guidelines, OEM trim and hardware, and Gentex OEM replacement mirror. Everything has a 3 year warranty and all the harnesses are loomed for protection under the truck, unlike the kit you referenced in your link above. There is a big difference in camera kits that are available on the market so make sure you read the descriptions closely and compare the photos to ensure you are getting the very best.
Here's the link to our full kit:

Something doesn't sound right with your information. It has been stated in this and other threads that the 2014 4.2in Sync display is re-programmable differently from the 2013 and people should be able to use it as the backup camera monitor. I hate the idea of having the monitor on my rearview mirror. Guess I will wait until more instructions are online.
Currently there is no way to connect to the small screen unfortunately. You would need to go with a complete kit that includes the rear view mirror and the camera assembly unless you have the MyFord Touch large screen radio system.

That is what I had in mind. The part that scares me is having someone other than the dealer taking the dashboard apart to connect the camera wires and running the wire through. Does anyone know a good, trustworthy place that I could get this done at in Vancouver?

Here's his plan..
"If you send the screen to me I can reprogram and provide T - harness and video cable for video input. You then relocate or just tap off video signal from mirror. I can tell you how to do that. Cost will be about $200 depending on shipping to your location."
I think I'll stick with the mirror screen.

Yeah I don't know sh*t
What about adding a front camera to display in the 4.2" screen?
I have a 2013 with the rear camera in the mirror and actually like it over the screen in the dash.
I would like to add a front camera for my wife when she is parking.
If I had the NAV it appears to be an easy add on.
