The best Replacement reman engine builders
Hello, new here, been a member just not posted in awhile at least.
I need advice for a good reputable remanufactured engine vendor for a 2013 3.5L Ecoboost. I did a simple search, filled out online forms requesting a quote and I’ve gotten a ton of quick replies via text and phone calls, most seem sketchy. My luck sucks bad lately and I need help from someone experienced.
Back story how I got here.
I have a 2013 FX4 with the 3.5L. Had timing replaced at 155k miles with Cloyes timing kit. 9k miles later one turbo failed so I took it to same mechanic to replace the turbos, which he did along with an intercooler. While test driving it threw a code his Snap On reader couldn’t read, so he took it to a friend with a Ford reader. While it was sitting in idle the engine quit, wouldn’t turn over or anything.
He took it back to his shop and found a guide rod in the timing failed and chain jumped. He stopped there and didn’t look any further until he could contact Cloyes since they claim lifetime warranty and will pay for approved repairs caused by their faulty product.
they have preliminarily agreed to pay for repair up to a used motor with similar mileage, which I’m not fond of. But they’ll spring for the cost of a used and I can pay the difference if I choose. Don’t have much choice it being my primary driver and I’ve been without it for almost 3 months awaiting a decision. I’ve priced remans from $5500 to $11000, but unsure which might be a scam Or unreputable.
Any advice for a brother in need would be very much appreciated 😬

LKQ i sa huge chain of national auto salvage yards. I would think one of their engines are out of a totaled out vehicle with low miles. They also have a huge business supplying clone auto parts and body parts from Chinese suppliers. They also have a Pull-A-Part division where customers come in and remove their own parts--or what's left of vehicles.
New Ford 3.5 engines are no longer available, except as short blocks. And there are very few 3.5 engine long blocks available. I do know of one dealer that can get the 3.5 engines within 2 days for $6738.
AutoNation Ford on Mt. Moriah Rd. in Memphis has the largest inventory of Ford Parts in the U.S.--more parts than the local Ford Parts warehouse has.
If I need auto parts, I go to Car-Parts.com and filter the search by miles from me. I'm amazed at the availability of car parts. Some are priced more reasonable than others. Forget trying to get a Hyundai 4 cylinder though.
