Default Replaced fuel pump & assembly but still no fuel gauge

Had to replace the fuel pump in my 1996 f150 (Eddie Bauer 4 wheel, 5.8 liter fuel injected. Single 18 gal steel tank located in the rear).
Purchased the pump and the assembly thinking that it would fix the gauge that's been pegged out past full for 10 years plus.
From what I've read, that leaves a bad ground as the next potential cause.
Which wire needs to be grounded?
Is it safe to just ground each wire individually that comes from new fuel pump until I get an indication on the gauge?
Does anyone know where the original ground connection is located so that it can be inspected?

New fuel pump and connections are good and truck now runs great but didn't correct pegged gauge.
All fuses checked and good.

Thanks in advance!

Chances are if the ground was bad, the gauge would show empty. Not full. Sounds like a bad gauge.

On my '85 the book said to replace the oil pressure sending unit for fuel gauge problem (not reading correct/not moving) don't know why but fixed my problem (gauge read E or goes to 1/2 tank and sits regardless of the amount of fuel in tank) I found that fix after replacing the sending unit, gauge, printed circuit on back of instrument cluster and voltage stabilizer.

Hope this helps
