Default The remote is not working

I recently bought my 97 F150 Lariat. It came with a keyless entry remote. I have tried to enter the programming mode (the turning of the key X number of times) I have seen in some posts it is from 6-10 times. For some reason I can not get it to enter into the programming mode. Am I doing something wrong?

is it possible its already programmed? i have a 99 f150, and when i bought it i thought i couldnt get my remote to work, then i found out i have squeeze the bottom of the remote while pressing the button for it to work. i think its because of the battery not getting a good connection with the remote or something. thats probably not your problem, i just firgured id mention that just encase.

Do you have your owners manual? Here are instructions for 2005 hopefully will be the same for 1997.

1. Unlock all doors using power unlock.
2. Cycle key form position 1 to 3 eight times within 10 seconds - ending in position 3
3. Then door locks will cycle to confirm you are in program mode
4. Within 20 seconds press any button on remote to program
5. Repeat step 4 to program additional remotes
6. When done move key to position 1. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming is complete

Hope this helps.

when you try to click it, does it make a noise inside the door panels?

No. I bought a new battery for it as well (the remote). The thing that puzzles me is that I can not get the truck to enter into the programming mode to begin with.
