Reliability of Crate engines
Do any of yall have crate engines? I was just wondering, if somebody used a crate engine, say from edelbrock and put it in their daily driver, how many miles could they expect too put on it, are these any more reliable than GM Ford Dodge engines, I would think they would easily be able to handle over 150,000 miles without problems, its just not a subject I come across much. Thanks for answers

To tell you the truth, I have never heard bad stories
about crate engines. I know "Power Block" uses them
from time to time with good results. I worked for the
Ohio Turnpike years ago and they used Jasper rebuilds
with good results.
I would guess warrenty is even better than from a
local guy that rebuilds them in your area unless it
has all the latest and greatest in machine shop gear
and people that know how to use it.
Why do you ask? Your engine getten tired?

Well my uncle has a 89 F-150 straight six with 300,000 miles on it, and it is getting tired, I was just wondering if it would be worth it from a reliability standpoint to spend more money on a crate engine and still be able to have all that extra power, but on the other hand if crate engines arent very reliable then it wouldnt be worth it for someone who has to rely on his truck as a daily driver to get one.
