Red trucks! Post up.

In the old days the reds would fade really bad and really fast. UV rays do the damage, plus improper or lack of care. The '70's were notorious for bad metal. Nowadays with clearcoats being the top coat, better pigments, they do much better. Keep it clean and waxed. Mine is protected under a metal pole building year round. So sun exposure is to a minimum. I clean it constantly inside and out. I use a California duster nearly every morning (weather permitting), or when it's dusty. I'm always checking for tar, bugs, etc.. I usually give the paint a good cleaning and wax which usually ends up being about three-four months. I keep the door jams clean and waxed, hinges clean, rubber clean and coated. I have one very small scratch on the passenger rear door that I need to get repaired, and one small area on the front bumper that need a little touch-up. Otherwise the truck looks (most of the time) like it could be in the showroom, to me anyway.......

The most common colors are white, black (or tuxedo black metallic), grey, and silver. Blah...
As a professional auto painter i can say, i paint way to many of the blah colors. I do like them, but there's too much of it. And i do work at a dealership, so i can personally attest to the, "we don't stock many reds." I've seen the overstock lot we have, its all white, black, and grey.
When i bought my first f150(an 04) it was red 2 tone. I wasn't a "red guy" at the time. It grew on me, and now I'm on my second red f150(a '10), that honestly wasn't on purpose. I love being able to find my red truck in about 2 seconds in a parking lot, amidst a sea of blah!

We need to come up with a flag just for the red truck army. No rebel flags, we need something new!
