Red Candy is the same. It changes in different lighting. I think Ford switched to Ruby Red after they couldn't get the materials (dyes?) after the Japanese earthquake.

I think your right Bobby. My Wifey has a Red Candy Mustang, and it has the same tendencies as my Ruby Red. The Ruby is just a bit darker.

I like this description of how your truck look when wet. When water is beaded up on my truck glistening in the sun, makes my mouth start to water. Drool. I love candy paint.

My mom tracked down some old pictures from my younger years so I thought I'd share them with you guys.

You all know my current truck:




But what about the red truck before that? Well the last red vehicle we had was my dad's maroon 1996 Mitsubishi Colt "Rodeo" when we were still living in South Africa!

That thing was awesome, It went anywhere, you'd just point the wheel and drive. Naturally my mom stole it from him on a daily basis because she liked it too. With our little trailer we would go camping all over southern Africa. We always joked about his truck being a little pink, and guess what? Now I'm driving an almost pink truck!

Anyway here are some pics:

Sadly the truck got stolen and was replaced by an identical truck but in blue.

You should see the Race Red under sodium-vapor lamps (like Sam's parking lots) it looks completely ORANGE!

I wanna see SUNSET Metallic on our trucks.... So what's the vote, are we going to allow the '14 Sunset owners to post in this thread?

I vote Yes, had to go look up SUNSET Metallic and saw it on an '14 Explorer and it looks sharp. Very nice addition, Looks like a Ruby Red with some copper thrown in as well.

I vote no. I think it's too much copper/orange to be considered red. It's a distinctive enough color that they should start their own thread.
