what i do is, i scrub the inside of the hitch (female end) with a wire brush thats soaked in gun cleaner lubricant, and the same with the towball carrier (male end). I wipe it down with a regular rag or towel with the same solution, just before I use it. I also have a tough/tuff box in the box for keeping stuff i dont want in my cab. works good for me .. been doing it a year, no rust

Guess you could try Graphite spray or silicone spray. I use the Aluminum Stinger hitch with a Stainless Ball, will not seize in the receiver.
