I appreciate the advice from everyone. Sounds like regardless, I should just stay away from this. That is why I wanted to come on and ask for opinions. Thanks

When I was looking a year or so ago, I ran across a similar deal, good title but the records indicated lots of repairs. So I called the dealership where repairs were made and the guy spoke candidly with me and said stay away!

May take you a while, but you will find something better!

I would pass for several reasons.

#1. It's a 1st year Ecoboost, and they were problematic as it was.
#2. It's a crashed 1st year Ecoboost, now you're just compiling the issues.
#3. Unless you can verify it's all Ford OEM structural parts used, you don't want it.
#4. Most buyers will never buy it off you so you'll be stuck with it.
#5. Airbags , who knows what they put in there or if they'll work, or if they were even replaced.

Ya I've decided to move on from this for a number of reasons. The guy says it was fixed with all Ford parts and that the airbags did not deploy but he seems to be trying to ignore some of my questions. I will keep looking. Thanks again to everyone for their advice, this is exactly why I wanted to ask for opinions.

I bought my 2002 Lariat SCrew with a salvage title. Truck was two months old, with 3800 miles on it. I've owned it for 13 years, it now has over 126,000 miles on it. So I think it worked out fine.

The key to remember is that a salvage title destroys your resale value. Most buyers won't touch one. So you have to buy right (cheap), and you have to keep the truck a long, long time. If you tend to replace your truck every four or five years, don't do it.

I bought mine from a guy that has been rebuilding trucks, almost exclusively Fords, for over 30 years. Insurance companies will sometimes total out vehicles that are far from totalled, just to avoid the headaches of repairs/disputes/etc. Certainly my truck was far from totaled (hood, bumper, grill, radiator, windshield).

Another aspect on a newer truck is that Ford voids the warranty. Kind of sucks they use it as an easy out. But I have not had any mechanical problems anyway.

Its kind of funny, in this "love the planet/go green/environmental savvy" world, that salvage is frowned on. It just means the former owner got paid off by their insurance, someone bought it at an auction, and repaired it. Would it be better to scrap these vehicles. Of course, its all about the credibility of the rebuilder, so do your due diligence!

Keep in mind alot of vehicles with salvage titles are also stolen vehicles that were recovered after the insurance claim was paid out.

So those won't even have damage , so to speak.
If you can find those, that's your Unicorns.

But like the previous guy stated above me, your due diligence in the shop repairs and verifications of parts utilized is crucial to any salvage title vehicle if you can find it. Without that information, it's a huge gamble.....and not worth it IMHO.

I have spoken with the guy and he said it was light front end damage that didn't deploy the air bags. He said that that it was fixed with all Ford parts as well. He does not have pictures of the damage before it was repaired but he said there is nothing wrong with the truck and it passed inspection for the rebuilt title. I plugged the truck into NADA and it came up at 30k for clean retail. He is asking 23k or best offer. I am currently checking with my bank to see if they will even do a loan for a rebuilt title vehicle. If they do I am going to go check it out. Besides the obvious does anyone have any advice on things I should look for or ask for when I check it out? thanks in advance.
Minor front end damage? BS! All Ford parts? BS! These are cheap flips and are a host of problems. I owned a salvage title vehicle before. You can't get loans on them, so you have to pay cash. They are also very difficult to sell when you are looking to move on. Personally, that truck isn't cheap enough for the baggage it brings.
