Default Rebuilt title purchase advice

Hello all, I joined this forum a while back to ask questions about the ecoboost engine. I am currently still looking for a truck and found what appears to be a great deal on a 2011 F150 FX4 supercrew with the ecoboost. It has only 62,000 miles on it but it does have a rebuilt title. I have spoken with the guy and he said it was light front end damage that didn't deploy the air bags. He said that that it was fixed with all Ford parts as well. He does not have pictures of the damage before it was repaired but he said there is nothing wrong with the truck and it passed inspection for the rebuilt title. I plugged the truck into NADA and it came up at 30k for clean retail. He is asking 23k or best offer. I am currently checking with my bank to see if they will even do a loan for a rebuilt title vehicle. If they do I am going to go check it out. Besides the obvious does anyone have any advice on things I should look for or ask for when I check it out? thanks in advance.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I am going to ask to see all of the repair paperwork so I can see everything that was replaced to start with.

I've bought and sold two salvaged title vehicles.
I bought both for HALF of NADA, and sold them for the same.

Light front end damage isn't enough to total a vehicle. Something's fishy.

My plan right now is to look at the truck. He says he has paperwork from the repairs. If he doesn't have any pictures of the damage I should be able to take the VIN to the repair shop and get some more info. This may turn out to be a waste of time, but I may be able to get a good deal on a nice truck too. I appreciate the advice and will make sure to be thorough. I'll come back here once I know more

True but think about what if it does not work out, who will want it from you and if it does, plan on driving forever and part out later.

My concerns are certifying the airbags will work!

To chime in with the others- NEVER pay more than 50% of LOAN VALUE for anything with a rebuilt title. PERIOD. To get a branded title, I would almost guaranty there was at least one air bag deployed. Also, if you buy it, you will pretty much HAVE to drive it into the ground, because 90+% of folks won't touch 'em with a ten foot pole-ever.
