Ford forever!
My Coyote is the best V8 I've ever owned!
I've been getting 18-19 MPH on Crappy California gas.

Now flesh, that was a great review! You've had a heap of trucks to compare, and even gave ye differential ratio and two wheel drive so we didn't have to guess.
Keep them kind of posts coming. I've read a heap of mpg threads, but yours summed it up better than all my mpg reading. I was surprised at ye 3.7 though, thought it would have done a bit better.

I've owned both the Ecoboost and the 5.0, and here is what I have found. (Drum roll!) It really depends on how you drive.
If you try to milk MPGs out of the Ecoboost, you can get pretty good numbers....better than the 5.0. If you flog the Ecoboost it will get pretty bad numbers, worse than the 5.0.
The 5.0 reacts much the same, although the swings towards great and terrible MPGs aren't as pronounced. It stays in the middle more regardless of how you drive it.
My lifetime averages with both are 17 mpg. I tow some, I idle more than most, lots of highway, very little city.
Side bar: Wind. Every time I read one of these things it seems no one really accounts for the wind. Wind has a huge effect on our brick shaped vehicles. Yesterday out here we had some stupid wind, I got 22 going with and 14 back into it, 50 miles trip.

Dax, that was some crazy stupid wind you had. I have lost as much a 3.5 mpg's in a headwind with some hard crosswinds. I have also gained up to 2 mpg's with a tailwind. I guess the winds blows harder than it sucks......

Kansas man, we have 6 windfarms within 30 miles of my house for a reason. I want to say it was sustained 30mph with gust to 40mph the other day. It really sucked, lol.
