Default Premium Fuel for Supercharged KR?

Hi I was just wondering if anybody knows if the higher octane levels of premium fuel have any benefit to preserving the engine and supercharger. I know it takes regular just fine, just wondering if using the premium will reduce engine knock since its a higher performance engine.
Thanks!

Usually when you have a supercharged engine it's recommended to use premium. Is this a stock supercharger equipped engine? If so, check the owners manual for the recommended fuel type.

More than likely high octane is recommended.

using premium fuel is a necessity in a supercharged application.

Octane is a measure of how easy it is to ignite the fuel, the lower the octane the easier it is to ignite.

So, because with higher pressures with boost you see a fuel and air mix more unstable/ready to ignite, so you need the higher octane to try and stop detonation when running boost.

The reason why you truck works without it is because you dont have high enough boost levels see detonation, however I wont say it wont ever happen, the reason you should still use high octane is as a safeguard against detonation, which would be devastating to your engine.

Hopefully that makes sense thats the way it was explained to me.

if it doesn't nock, you probably don't realy need it. it depends on your timing/ compression/ peak boost if you realy need it or not. but you might as well if you can afford it, as a precaution.
