Question possible transmission problem

I have a 2005 F150. The truck is having problems going up hills in speeds of 70-80 km/h (1100 RMP ). It will stutter and clunk many times if I dont speed up and push it into higher Rpm ( 1500 + ). It sounds and feels like im hitting many pot holes.
The issue will happen every time i go up hill, however it ill be alot alot less frequently when I turn overdrive on pushing it into higher RPM on a regular basis.

Lightbulb

HINT/TIP: You'll find posting in the
Late Model F150s > 2004 - 2008 Ford F150
section more helpful/appropriate than General F150 Discussion posts.

Could be a COP.

I had a similar issue with my '05 4.6l.
