On the older trucks the speedo is calibrated by the size gear in the transmission if it has a speedo cable in the tranny. If its read off the rear diff you have to get a speedometer calibrator aftermarket. I think Superlift or Skyjacker makes them. I have put them in and its fairly easy. Yes I would put an SCT chip in even with 149,000 on it. IT wont add but maybe 10 hp but it will help drivability some. Its easy to install. There is a port on the side of the computer. You have to open the computer, use a small piece of scotchbrite and clean the connector. IT has a film on it. In some cases the computer case had to be modified to accept the chip. Then just plug it in. NEVER NEVER NEVER unplug or plug in the chip with the key on.
