No expert here..never used it..on my touch screen. .Press the info button..then services. .you can pick voice guided directions. .Local movies -start times. .gas prices. .etc.. I have all this on my phone if I need it... Most items blank out when you drive...they don't want distraction while driving

I have the MFT and have never paid for anything OR synced a phone to my truck, and I never will. Big Bro already knows too much about me and mine, I'm not going to make it any easier. I do like the "free navigation" however, I'm thinking in the future, I will be installing some form of switch to turn off the satellite antenna. When it's out of warranty- nobody is going to be able to remotely shut off my truck. Yes, at that point I will keep a foil hat behind the seat.

Gene45, just push the voice button on the steering wheel. When the SYNC lady says "say a command", you say services. She will ask which service you want, you say directions or traffic. She will tell you what you need to say from there. You do need your phone paired as it uses it to get the info. You can go to www.ford.com/sync for help, and how to use the system. I don't use it as much as I used to, but have used it on a couple of long trips. It does work very good.

BTW, there are some good video's on how to operate SYNC on YouTube.

Sync services wasn't free on my new 14 truck. In asking the salesman it used to be a free 3 year subscription on maybe 2013 and older vehicles. But even then it depended on if you bought a mustang, focus, truck etc. I didn't ask since I was interested in my situation only at the time, but I am betting they quit giving away especially the 3 year version on all new 2014 vehicles. I am not going to pay it, already have traffic and nav on my phone and use that when needed. And for me, not having a touch screen (ford touch) would be voice only, and I'll bet it's a good service, but I am not interested in it.

Sync services is a 3 day trial before you have to buy it now. I bought it just to check it out and when it expired with all free operator assists I didn't use, I didn't renew, fairly useless in my opinion as my cell phone does everything it does and then some.

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to jump in and clairify some information.

SYNC is free for the life of the vehicle for making hands-free calls and using voice commands for media.

SYNC Services is a subscription that allows you to obtain turn-by-turn directions, traffic alerts, news, sports scores, and my personal favorite, the daily horoscope.

This is available on all 3 SYNC system. Check out the details here:

http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...-overview-sync

http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...c-myford-touch

Certain models came with a complementary 3-year subscription.

If you're not sure if you have one, shoot me a PM with your VIN and I'll take a look.

Jaclyn
