The only downfall of tow mirrors...

Years ago we slapped mirrors doing 60 mph in a Chevy dually work truck. A suburban crossed the line, and we hit mirrors, causing it to explode throughout the truck which had all the windows open. You know those big square metal mirrors? Yep, those. The blind spot mirror hit my foreman in the head, busting him open, and I was sitting behind him, and just had a bunch of cuts from the glass.
The ***** kept going, but was busted a few miles down the highway, with his wife and kids in the car also. All I can say is that other bastard is lucky my foreman didn't get a hold of him. All he kept telling the cop was that "he just wanted to talk to the guy." They wouldn't let him out of the truck.

I've done that before...somewhere in road construction in the middle of the night out in either North Dakota or Montana on the way to St. Anthony Sand Dunes back in the early 2000's. We figured out real quick that they give you a lot more room for lanes in MN road construction than some other states do. Things got real tight with a big enclosed trailer. Some sections of cones weren't exactly what I'd call very straight either.

Has anyone tried the power fold tow mirrors from 1A Auto? I've been thinking about them because of this kind of thing but I'm not sure they're any good given that they only run about 450 dollars. I'm concerned it might be one of those get what you paid for kind of thing. As far as tapping mirrors goes that happened to me once when I was driving a humvee in Iraq. It was late at night and dusty as hell. Nobody got seriously hurt though with just minor glass cuts.

I've heard... that sometimes their are few mischievous teens that move those cones in, usually when it starts to get dark...and that sometimes explains the tight quarters!
