Default oil pump

been ford man all my life , first time pump has failed ,have 1996 f150 2wd 5.0 is it possible to pull pan with engine in frame, suspect screen is blocked ,pressure is lost when hot but comes back when engine is cold any advice greatly appreciated, Thanks Arthur

Sounds like mains are worn out,oil thins out when hot and will go thru screens and filters easier,on the other hand when oil thins out due to temps pressure goes down do to it by passing bearings that keep it held back more,hope i'm wrong

also cam bearings and any bearing that is pressured can be worn and cause loose of psi
