Default leaf springs

on my 98 f150 xlt I've discovered that I've completely broken one of the leaves into 3 pieces on the driver side. I found a website with the options for my truck but I'm mot sure which one to get because I've heard that a heavier duty leaf spring will make the ride rougher if the bed is empty. any help would be much appreciated!

here's the website

A stiffer spring won't squat as much, but will ride much rougher. I was looking at the new Firestone Ride right today on trucks and was thoroughly impressed that a actual air ride is finally available for a pickup (not with the price tag though). They use lighter springs (3/4 tons get 1/2 ton springs basically) to help the vehicle ride smoothly but use bags to give the extra rigidity and make the truck ride level when loaded. The best part about the system was that it automatically adjusts based off of a ride height sensor (no controller to screw with) and can also be used to lift the rear end 2"-4".

If you want HD springs for better ride control, then a F250 LD or 7700 spring would be best. If you haul very little, then a SD 1/2 ton spring would do you best as it would ride a little better.
