Default No switch for passenger air bag

I recently bought a 2003 f150 Lariat Fx4. I just noticed that there is no switch to turn off the passenger air bag. Does that sound right? I let my son ride in the front bit need to turn this off until he is bigger. Has anyone heard of this or is it a modification someone has done?

Look, fpr a light that shows it is off. I don't know what year they started it but if the passenger weight is under a certain amount it will automatically be disabled. Like I said, I don't know what year this started though.

There is no light, no switch. It should be under the AC vent just to the right of the radio but it is not there. I know there is a pleasure switch in the passenger seat if a person is over 50lbs on 2004 and newer (I think) bit mine should have a key switch and a light since it is a 2003. Unless the fx4 edition changed it. Any ideas?

My 2004 STX is done by pressure. Unless you have a standard cab truck and have no other option, your son shouldn't ride in the front if you are concerned about your airbags anyway.....

He is 9 and weighs 65lbs. So he is heavy enough but not really tall enough yet. I let him (on occasion) as a right of passage or as a treat. I know I shouldn't but ...

True and I have been making him ride in the back seat since I noticed this but it is still a mystery that I'd like an answer to. I just don't know (for sure) how it works.
