For anybody here who hasn't tried them out and has $1,000 to spend, go to your ford dealer and get in and out of the platinum a few times. It might just make you forget all about that grab handle that you're missing. It did for me And as a side benefit, I expect my drivers seat to last much longer.
I just extended my factory ones on my lariat out 3 inches for $10. Same effect and it doubles as a protector for the side of my truck against rocks snow and mud thrown up by the tires. Not to mention door dings from small cars who hit the boards instead of my truck.

Thankfully my '07 has a driver side handle. I was moving my dads 2013 out of their driveway and damn near fell on my *** when I was getting in. He is not leveled, and has the factory nerfs so it is not very high, but seems like Ford dropped the ball.

I don't miss the driver side grab handle. I'd rather have a driver side A-pillar gauge pod for a boost gauge.

Why not both? e.g. Lotek offering for 2002, 2004-5 F-150 ...
ALAS ... Nothing for 2009+ F-150.

This lack of a grab handle is something that should be reconsidered by Ford. It is the one thing that bugs me the most. I'm only 5'4" tall and it would help a great deal. Grabbing the steering wheel doesn't help and can make things worse in certain situations. For example you have an ice build up on your running boards, you get out if your truck to do something and leave the engine running. When you try to get back in grabbing the steering while is not an option because now it isn't locked so you grab the wheel step onto the iced up running board, the wheel turns and you slip off the running board and wipe out sending whatever was in your hands such as a coffee flying every where.

IMO ...
  • hokey, rube alternative.
  • doesn't match the RH side.
  • throws-off the whole feng shui of the interior.

Just got my 2014 and dearly miss the driver side grab handle. The steering wheel does not work for a grab handle and the running boards are of no use and will be removed.

There doesn’t seem to be a suitable solution available so I’ll have to create my own.

Is there anything inside the driver’s side A pillar that could be damaged by drilling into it?
