Default New wheels

I have an 06 scab 2wd XLT with 5.5 bed that came factory with steel 17's and the back spacing is 44mm. I am looking at adding ford factory 20's from the 09 and up 150's. I am wondering will they be able to fit without rubbing. I plan on dropping the truck 2/3 at most.. I have researched and found that the 20's are also 44 mm but are 8.5 wide rim as the 17's are 7.5. what is the widest tire I can put on them with a drop. is there anyone here with pics of 20's on a 06 body with a drop. and will I run into problems running that wheel. Thanks for ur help..

I don't know about the lowering part but I assume you'll be putting some low profile tires on there... with that said, you can fit a 12.5" wide tire with between 4.5 and 5.5 inches of backspacing on 8-9 inch rims without it rubbing on the control arms... I think you likely have tons of room to play with on width without having a super wide tire

was looking at using stock tires.. 275/55/20 as that's what I'm finding that people have on the stock rims they are selling.. is there a difference in 04-08 vs 09 to curent f-150s front suspension.

there might be some small changes but i know most parts swap so I;m guessing it cant be significant. those tires will definitely fit without lowering it. not sure with it being lowered

I still need help understanding this.. I have a 06 Scab 2wd 5.5 bed.. Im looking at using factory 20x8.5x44mm rims that usually come on 09 and up.. is the factory 20's really 44mm backspacing or are they different.. the factory rim on my truck is a 17x7.5x44mm and it looks to sit close to lip of fender.. It has a 235-70-17 on it now.. Is there a difference in backspacing from the factory 20's that came on 04-08's over the ones that come on 09 and up.. is there anyone that has pics of 06 with factory 20's on it so i can see how it fits..

44mm offset has different back spacing when changing rim width since offset is relative to the the center of the width of the rim but i agree they will both fit

Okay I understand that.. yes 44mm stays the same from the back of the rim to hub.. but that the measurement from the hub to outer rim lip will change as the rims width change.. so the wider the rim, the more its going to stick out from factory truck rim.. I have found pics of trucks running the wheels so I see that it will work.. just crazy how ford designed these truck they could have done a lot better..

I also notice that from 04 to current that from 18's to 22's they run a fender flare.. seems crazy for me to spend a lot of money on factory wheels and tires to only have to go buy flares to run them..

Thanks for ur help..

Why are you saying Ford should have designed the truck better when comparing 2 different generations of trucks and the wheels they put on them. Your point is invalid. The wheels will fit. If they don't with a drop that's just part of modding a vehicle. Sometimes **** doesn't go the way you want it to. Deal with it
