Default EGR removal?

Hey all. On a 2004 f150 5.4l can you easily remove the EGR without messing with the ECU? Or does that need to be flashed afterwards?

Why would you want to? It's a lose , lose situation. Worse performance and more NOx emissions.

No negative performance here, been deleted quite some time. I don't like the thought of hot *** exhaust gas being cycled back through the motor. Yes you have to have it turned off in a tune or it will throw a SES light.

my friend at SCT sent me a guinea pig tune a while back for my tbird and actually pumped up the EGR to see what mileage would be like. I snag close to 20mpg in town and cut almost .2 off my quarter mile time.

So long as you aren't running your engine too lean, or you could burn valves etc in it. If it doesn't do anything bad, sounds like it might have been running rich before.
