Default need some 5.4 advice

I have a 2001 f150 super crew with 220k miles. Recently it spit the spark plug out of #3 and the spring part of thr coil pac fell into the cylinder. My question is is it possible to remove the engine thru the hood for rebuild/swap or does the cab need to be removed (seems like a huge job). Im a experienced mechanic ,but most of my experience has been on motorcycles and ford muscle cars. Any advice or experices is appreciated

Yes the engine comes out the top, no need to remove the cab.

I've watched some YouTube videos and it seems some people are cutting the radiator support to get the engine out is that necessary

Remove the intake, but do not cut the radiator support unless it's rusted out and needs repaired anyway.

Not sure which direction In going,I would hate to get a used engine without any known history and be right back here. Im leaning torwards a rebuild once I get it out

I would definitely NOT buy a used 5.4, unless you're getting rid of the truck immediately. No cab removal, or hacking the truck up is necessary to remove the engine.

UPDATE: Since I already ran the engine with the debris in the cylinder I figured I had nothing to lose, so I repaired spark plug threads with a insert, installed a spark plug and started it. It seems that it spit it out the exhaust? It did have a misfire for about 2min,but then cleared up,I never heard any type of noises and the engine runs fine (I put about 200 miles since). So what do I now? Im thinking of leaking down that cyl and go from there

Personally, if it's running fine I wouldn't touch it.
