Need help with grill for new FX4
I just got a new 2014 FX4 and am not really crazy about the grill. It has the black 2 bar grill and looks kind of cheap to me. Its the same grill that the XL comes with.
Would like to upgrade it with out going too crazy. Thinking about the chrome snap on overlays. has anyone done this
Would love to see pics of what some of you have done to your 2014 FX grills
Thanks

If you go to our Vendor Showcase forum, you can contact Tasco Auto Group, Steve@Tasca will sell you whatever you want at employee pricing/no tax/great shipping costs. Consider the 2014 STX Sport grill.

Here's what I did to my xlt using an fx grille, I had the all chrome grille and didn't like it so I bought an fx grille from a member of this forum that had a PTM grille surround and made two new grilles out of the pair.
Here's how it started..................XLTgrille................ .................................................. ...........................FXgrille
The all chrome xlt grille is actually 5 separate parts, the surround, the body or grate if you will, and the chrome bars/c clamps. The fx grille is only 2 separate parts, the body/grate/bars and the surround, seeing the one I had was painted to match body color I assume yours is the same way?
So any way, I took my xlt grille completely apart, removed the chrome surround and bars/clamps and plasti dipped the grating.
Then I took the fx grille surround off and put it on my xlt dipped grating and reinstalled the chrome bars/clamps. You can see how much contrast it now has compared to what it was.
Now I have the fx grille body/grating and the xlt chrome surround left over, I put them together and wound up selling it to another forum member and nearly recouped all my out of pocket expenses.
The rest is history, hope that helps give you an idea towards your own project.
P.S. When/if you change your grille be sure to get a hard thin plastic wedge of some sort, they sell body trim tools at harbor freight that work perfectly to separate where the surround clips to the hood, those clips will break if you just yank on it, use the wedge to drive between your hood and surround a little at a time moving along the length of where the grille and hood meet, no hammer needed just bump it with the ball of your hand and it will pop loose easily, there are 5 or 6 plastic tabs with metal spring clips that hold it on, the rest of the grille is bolted, you will see them when you open the hood and look at the back.
