Default My 150 will not start.

A week ago I went to the store and parked my 2000 f-150 6 cylinder 2wd automatic in the back yard to unload it. Went to move it to its parking spot and it fire up but "felt" like it was not getting gas or was hitting on two cylinders. It was very sluggish and died constantly. I figured the fuel pump went south. It has 135K miles on the clock. I tried and tried and tried to fire the engine but only suceeded in draining the battery.

Today I pulled the bed off and replaced the fuel pump assembly. It was easy and a lot less of a hastle than dropping the fuel tank. Youtube to the rescue.

I put a trickle charger on the battery and after a few hours the charger read that the battery was full. I was using the 6amp setting. Don't know if this was correct or not, but it seemed to me to have been a decent decision.

So, I then hopped into the cab and turned the key to start the truck. The only response was a rapid clicking noise somewhere within the engine compartment. I left the key in the "ON" position and I noticed a relay in the engine bay was beating like a heartbeat. Very regular pattern. I noticed the cluster also had this "heartbeat".

Turn the key to the "run" position and I hear clicking, turn the key to "on" and hear the heartbeat.

Now for the gurus on this forum, I ask.......What is wrong with my F-150? I appreciate any information you can bestow upon me in advance.

A fast clicking noise can be the starter/solenoid. This has nothing to do with your original complaint of a sluggish runnng engine, but you may have a new problem now.

I figured it out. I jumped my F150 with another car and it fired right up. After reading another post on here about how a weak battery can cause funny issues, I said to myself that the battery was probably low.

Thanks for the reply.
