When it comes to revolutionizing music and vocal range (and harmony), I think the Beatles own that.

The Beatles definitely revolutionized music as a whole. I'm talking about a specific TYPE of music. And obviously you didn't do what I asked and listened to a distinct track and see the vocal range and talent that is actually there. You decided to be closed minded and tried to rebuke and rebut what I said by posting something that "trumps" what I posted. Believe me, I have the utmost respect for the Beatles and what they've done for music. Hell, I could post Black Sabbath and say that they revolutionized music just as much as the Beatles.

Everyone has their influences. For the Beatles it was the blues and rock that came from the US in the 50s (Elvis has been dubbed the King of Rock N Roll for a reason). For Black Sabbath it was the likes of the Beatles, the sounds of blues bands like Cream and Jimi Hendrix, and an unfortunate accident that took their guitarists finger tips on his right hand (that plays on the fret board) that gave them their sound. For Pantera, they started as glam rock in the early 80s, and transitioned to a more metal feel in 89 when they hired on Phil Anselmo. Their sound is largely influenced by bands like Kiss and Black Sabbath.

You see? Every artist has their influences. Their talents allow them to do something different, and envision something different. Like my original post to your "noise" comment said, if you can do the things that Pantera had done, and bands today are doing... why aren't you making millions doing it? You could just show respect and say "you know what... I'm not into that. But I respect what they do." That's honestly what I've done with the majority of your posts. CSNY? Yeah, they're alright. Do I blow down the freeway with my windows down blaring Wooden Ships? Not at all. But I respect them and their talents.

Also, while Lennon is a great vocalist... His voice has no where near the range of Anselmo. Anselmo has no where near the voice of Freddie Mercury. But for their specific styles, it suited them perfectly.

depami Rather than listen to the whole song, go to the 6:10 second mark of the song and listen from there. It's only 57 seconds... I think you could handle that.

I'm not disrespecting them, I just can't listen to that stuff, it hurts my head.

Pretty sure calling it "noise" is disrespectful. They poured their heart and soul into their music. That's like taking a project that you have worked on tirelessly and calling it worthless.

Also, sorry for getting so heated. Music is a huge passion of mine outside of coaching football, my truck, and hunting. I've played guitar for 20 years and modeled my playing after the likes of James Hetfield and Dimebag Darrell Abbott.

No problem dude. I like most music that's done well but some my brain just can't handle. I'll go to 6:10 and give it another chance.
