Default motor replacement

Have to replace motor . why do companies ask for last 5 digits of vin number? old days they didn't ask for it. looks like any 5.0 would work.

Probably the same reason we would ask for some details on your truck.

Year would probably be most helpful?

the last 5 digits of the VIN have nothing to do with what motor the truck has...

Positions 11 12 13 14 15 16 17
This is where the auto manufacturers enter unique information about the particular vehicle the VIN belongs to. The name of the assembly plant, extra options added to the vehicle, Production Sequence Number and things of that nature. This is different from company to company, so to find more details about this go to the Automobile Manufacturer website for your vehicle.

Hmmm.

"Motors" run on electricity, while "Engines" run on combustion. However, many people interchange the usage of these words

And all 5.0s are not the same. There are differences between F-150 and Mustang, for example, that typically make simple swaps between the two hard to accomplish.
