Mods for moving north
Hi all,
I'm moving from Hawaii to Maine in the next few weeks. Are there any mods or recommended items that would be helpful for having before I get there? Looking for suggestions on anything from tires to seat warmers. Thanks.

Undercoat the entire truck, double coat it if you have the $$$. The salt and other chems they use to melt road ice in the North East will eat your truck away from all directions.
You'll get more advice from locals that will lengthen the time your truck is still usable.
Holy cow what a climate change. Don't think I could take on that challenge, I like it warm.

A lot of my friends up north will have 2 sets of tires. Winter snow tires and summer all terrains.

Very good advice. I live in Florida and most here won't even touch a vehicle from up north due to the rust issues they have from the salt and chems in the salts used to de ice the roads.

Look at this:

I found out about that cavity after dropping a socket down there.
I'd like to know what you find down there. Jimmy Hoffa?

remote start = warm engine, interior, and melted windows (esp. if you park outside uncovered all night)
shovel, blanket(s), food, heat source (for you and for melting snow to drink), cat litter or other traction item,
weathertech floor liners - slush/salt = grungy mats and floors really quickly
heater kit for the windshield washer system - when it's below zero, and the road salt is keeping a fine mist of crud coming up from the tires, your windshield will get nasty - need a way to keep the fluid liquid long enough to actually clear your view rather than smear it all over the place
good snowbrush/scraper. don't use hot water to defrost the windshield. enjoy 4xwheelin the snow! what part of Maine are you going to? Portland area is far different than caribou!

Everything Cowpig said. You might need to get some extra under seat storage (I use Husky) to carry all that stuff, but it's totally worth it.
Here's a good post on things that you can keep in your truck: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/what-...-truck-337595/
And here is what the Husky under seat storage in my truck looks like (post #50) : https://www.f150forum.com/f118/favor...325875/index5/
Also, I'm guessing you haven't driving in much snow if you are from Hawaii. Go out in a snowy parking lot and PRACTICE. The best MOD for the snow is your driving.

Get the underside of your truck sprayed with Fluid Film.
Get one of these foam snow brooms. They are easier on the paint than a brush.
